Reopening!

Il Platano Reopens: A New Life Between Roots and Future

After years of silence, Il Platano is once again ready to welcome guests. In the heart of Quartino, the historic building that for decades served as a place of gathering, refreshment, and collective memory reopens its doors with a renewed look, yet the same enduring spirit.

This reopening is not just an architectural restoration, but a true rebirth project: a bridge between tradition and innovation, between history and sustainability. The spaces have been redeveloped with care and respect, using materials recovered from museums, demolitions, and local construction sites. Every object tells a story: the doors come from the Emmy Residence in Lugano, the pressure reducers from the former IRB in Bellinzona, and the flooring from the MASI Museum. Nothing has been left to chance.

But Il Platano is also much more: it is a social and educational project, developed in collaboration with the Gabbiano Foundation and the 1908 Group, involving young people in the working world and offering them a concrete opportunity for growth within an authentic and welcoming environment.

The rooms — each inspired by a mountain of the Gambarogno — the restaurant, the shared spaces, and the renovated bocce court tell a simple yet powerful vision: warmth, beauty, memory, and future can coexist.

Beneath the great plane tree that gives the project its name, smiles, voices, and gatherings return. We look forward to welcoming you to experience it up close.
